SINOx® Emissions Control / SCR-Technology

The SCR Process

Like our catalysts for power plants, the SINOx® System is based on SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), the most effective and proven process for nitrogen oxide reduction.

By this process nitrogen oxides can be transformed into harmless nitrogen and
water by contacting them with a reducing agent such as ammonia (NH3) or
urea (CO(NH2)2) in the presence of suitable catalysts.

To achieve this, the exhaust gases flow through the SINOx® catalyst, which is integrated in the exhaust-gas line, with precisely dosed addition of the reducing agent.

The chemical reactions proceed rapidly and selectively, i.e. without undesired side reactions, primarily as described by the following equations:

4 NO + 4 NH3 + O2 → 4 N2 + 6 H2O

6 NO2 + 8 NH3 → 7 N2 + 12 H2O
