Promotion of future young scientists

Inspiring young people to become interested in science and promoting technical talents - motivated by this desire, Argillon is committing itself to the project "Wissenschaft in Schulen" which has been implemented throughout Germany.

The international corporate enterprise with its headquarters in Redwitz in Upper Franconia is actively sponsoring the Special Course Biology for form 12 of the Gymnasium Burgkunstadt (High School Burgkunstadt). These 20 young people and their teacher, Dr. Melanie Fischer-Geiger will undoubtedly be pleased to receive a special donation in the next few days: Argillon is donating a subscription for the reputable scientific magazine "Spektrum der Wissenschaft" to the students for one year. The magazine is famous for its high-grade scientific articles that focus mainly on Biology and Chemistry. The latest findings of scientific research are described extremely graphically and descriptively in this magazine.

"The donation from Argillon is a real enrichment to our lessons", declared the Biology teacher, Dr. Melanie Fischer-Geiger. "In this way Argillon is offering the young people an opportunity to obtain regular information on the latest scientific findings and to research scientific topics more accurately. A further benefit: many of the articles in the magazine relate to the subject matter the students are learning so they will be able to enhance and further their knowledge." Karl Heinrich Moll, Head of Human Resources at Argillon, also evaluates the cooperation between school and industry positively: "If we can inspire young people to become interested in science and technology as a result of our activities as a sponsor we will have achieved a major target. Our company offers a diversity of scientifically- oriented professional careers. Perhaps some of the students will decide to launch their careers at Argillon after completing school and university."

About "Wissenschaft in Schulen!"
The project has been in existence since 2003 throughout Germany. More than 7,000 young people have participated so far. The patrons of the project are the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy and the German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In their activities as sponsors companies promote and encourage the future young scientists and the quality of school education.
The objective of "Wissenschaft in Schulen!" is to establish a closer liaison between industry and schools. The companies agree to enable the sponsored classes to receive a specialised magazine relating to the relevant subject matter for at least one school year. The aim is long-term cooperation including additional forms of interaction between schools and companies such as visits to the industrial premises and work placements.
